PROGRAM STATEMENT
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, College of Education, at the University of Utah offers a Master's Degree, Doctor of Philosophy, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy with an emphasis in Higher Education. These programs are designed to prepare students for a variety of student affairs positions in post-secondary institutions as well as for scholarly endeavors in higher education. As a result of the Department's strong reputation (consistently ranked among the top 15 Educational Leadership departments in the country), and faculty members' leadership in national academic and professional organizations, students are kept abreast of the latest theory, research, and programmatic advancements in the field.

PROGRAM MISSION
The department provides research and training opportunities through liaisons with local and state education agencies and associations, including the State Board of Regents and Utah's public and private higher education institutions. Our broad approach to higher education administration allows students to focus to some extent on student affairs or multiculturalism and diversity in their programs. Courses in the program address broad issues for higher education administrators, such as retention, assessment, and college student development.

PROGRAM UNIQUENESS
The Master's and Doctoral programs in the University of Utah's Department of Educational Leadership and Policy focus primarily on student affairs administration and issues of diversity and multiculturalism in higher education environments. The programs are broadly based to give students a general understanding of higher education institutions and their larger environments, and our focus on leadership within these environments helps students develop skills and theoretical bases for leadership positions within them.
