PROGRAM STATEMENT
Texas State’s College Student Affairs Emphasis is located within the Department of Educational Administration and Psychological Services. Course work is completed in the area of counseling while specialization is gained in College Student Affairs. The 46-hour M.Ed. Degree is conferred in Counseling and Guidance with an emphasis in Student Affairs and includes two internships in one of the many departments within the Texas State Student Affairs Division.

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to interact with Texas State Student Affairs professionals and also to apply for graduate assistantships in one or more of the following departments: Admissions, Career Services, Alcohol & Drug Resource Center, Greek Affairs, Mentoring, Multicultural Student Affairs, Campus Recreation, Residence life, LBJ Student Center and Vice President for Student Affairs.

PROGRAM UNIQUENESS
The Texas State Student Affairs program offers a strong counseling core with a good student affairs core that is taught mainly by practitioners from the Student Affairs Division. The Vice President for Student Affairs teaches two courses in the core sequence and is the program advisor. Many graduate assistantships are available to student affairs majors.
