PROGRAM STATEMENT
The Administration of Higher Education program is committed to the practical preparation of administrators and educators in a range of higher education environments. The program is designed to provide competencies for those employed or seeking employment in academic advising offices, admissions, alumni, development, college unions, athletics, career planning and placement centers, offices of residence life, orientation, student activities centers, financial aid, offices of the registrar, and a host of other professional positions at colleges and universities and other higher education-related agencies and organizations.
PROGRAM MISSION
Geared towards the practical application of classroom learning, the program serves as an excellent springboard to launch graduates into new areas of professional service and propel current professionals into higher levels of leadership at their current institutions. The curriculum also provides an excellent foundation for students who want to continue their studies and enroll in a doctoral program in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, or counselor education.
PROGRAM UNIQUENESS
Because the program has always been a small one, there is a great deal of interaction among students and between faculty and students. Most students are a few years out of college and are either negotiating a career change or, having found themselves working in higher education, are positioning themselves for advancement.
