PROGRAM STATEMENT

The College and University Leadership Cohort is designed for those who desire the knowledge and competencies that are acquired through doctoral study, with the intent of assuming leadership roles within higher education. It is a cohort based distance program designed for administrators and practitioners who are employed full-time.

PROGRAM MISSION

The Educational Leadership, College and University Leadership cohort is designed to meet the needs of persons interested in leadership positions within higher education.

It will specifically enable current practitioners and administrators to develop the competencies and improve their practice in order to become more accomplished leaders and to enable them to seek more advanced leadership roles within higher education. The program objectives are:

PROGRAM UNIQUENESS

The program delivery system is predominantly distance, with on campus, summer, condensed course work and advising. The program will operate within a cohort model, with students only admitted to the program beginning summer of each year. Students will be required to travel to Fort Collins for a 9 day extended week in July of each year and 2 days in January preceding the beginning of the spring semester. The six hours of course work during both the fall and spring semesters will be taken via computer and telecommunication delivery. The program is designed to be completed in four or five years, while the student remains employed full-time within a higher education setting.

CURRICULUM INFORMATION


Program Required Hours: 60 hours, 30 higher education administration content and 30 hours research.
Comprehensive exams, submission to a referred journal and dissertation are also required.
